WAYNE POWER | Power’s Ambulance Service Ltd.

President

Wayne Power is Manager of Power’s Ambulance Service Limited, a family business which has been providing Emergency Medical Services to the Placentia Region since 1984.

He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Memorial University and has completed numerous leadership and professional development programs through the Regional Cadet Instructor School, Fire and Emergency Services and the College of the North Atlantic. An active practitioner in the field of pre-hospital care he is a trained Emergency Medical Responder.

A volunteer in the community he serves as Chairperson of the Our Lady of Angels Parish Finance Council and the Voices of Placentia Bay Festival Committee and Vice Chairperson of CBDC Avalon West. He is a director with the NL Association of Community Business Development Corporations, the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board, the Port of Argentia, The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 33 and the Placentia Area Historical Society.  He served as an elected member of the municipal council in Placentia for nine years, including four years as Mayor and is also a past Regional Director with Municipalities NL. He has also previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of MADD Avalon.

He has been involved in the Canadian Cadet Organization for over 24 years and is currently a member of the Canadian Forces – Cadet Organization Administration and Training Service. He holds the rank of Captain and is serving as Commanding Officer of 2558 Placentia Royal Canadian Army Cadets.

He is the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration. He has also received the 15-year volunteer service award from MADD Canada and the Canada 150 Community Leader Award.

Wayne joined the Placentia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in 2017 as Vice President. He became President at the Annual General Meeting in the Fall of 2019.

 

PAMELA CONSTANTINE | Mary Margaret’s Flowers

Vice President

Pam is presently involved with small business in the Placentia Area and is a Past President of the Placentia Chamber of Commerce. Pam has most recently worked with Atlantic Safety Centre and was primarily tasked with guiding business development and expansion for the growing operation.

A retired teacher and high school principal, Pam has extensive training and experience in management, team building, conflict resolution, mediation, professional development and facilitation, strategic planning, leadership, as well as numerous administrative skill sets.

In her tenure as a high school administrator, she was recognized by the Eastern School District with an Excellence in Leadership award for her demonstrated leadership both in her high school working environment and within the larger school district.

As a certified facilitator, Pam also leads sessions on the timely Respectful Workplace topic of Creating Bully Free Workplaces.

 

ANGIE PITTMAN | Genesis Employment Corporation

Treasurer

Angie Pittman is the Executive Director of Genesis Employment Corporation in Placentia.

A graduate of Memorial University she has been working with the organization in economic development (Supported Employment Program) since 2007. Prior to this she worked studying the labour trends in the region. She is currently involved with Provincial and National level organizations under the Supported Employment banner.

Angie has a vast knowledge of Boards and brings a realistic approach to the table. She has sat on the Placentia Chamber of Commerce Board since 2012, serving as director, and most recently as Treasurer for the past 3 years.

Angie is a community minded individual who takes initiative in assisting to make her hometown a better place to live, work and play. She has been a member of the Placentia Rowing Club for over 15 years, a member of the Southeast Improvement Committee, and regularly assists with her children’s activities.

She currently lives in Southeast, Placentia with her husband and two kids.

 

KAREN MAHER | Maher’s Funeral Home Ltd. & WoodMar Contracting Inc.

Past President

Karen Maher manages two local businesses, and takes on a variety of roles. Primarily, she works as Business Manager, Family Pre-Planning Coordinator and Monument Sales Manager with Maher’s Funeral Home Ltd., a family established, owned, operated and dedicated business serving the Placentia area since the 1970s.  Karen is also the Business Manager of WoodMar Contracting Inc., a residential, commercial and industrial contractor operating in and around the Placentia/Argentia/Long Harbour area. WoodMar Contracting Inc. also supplies and installs custom cabinets to homes and businesses all over the Avalon.

In addition to her many professional roles, she is an active volunteer in the community and has been serving on this Board since 2011.

Karen is a graduate of Memorial University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in English and History. Prior to returning to her hometown in 2011, she worked in radio sales and advertising with Steele Communications, a division of NewCap Inc.

Karen shares her busy life with her husband and son.  She is enjoying raising her family and growing her career in her home town, a tight knit and beautiful community, surrounded by family and friends.

 

RAY GREENE | Port of Argentia

Director

In his role as Marketing Manager at Port of Argentia, Ray supports senior management and the Board of Directors in the economic development of the Placentia area through the promotion of the port and property assets at Argentia.

Having served on the Port’s Board of Directors for over 4 years previously, Ray brings a comprehensive perspective to his current role in promoting the key features of the Port to the local, regional, national and international business community.

Prior to his appointment in 2014, Ray served as provincial sales manager in the transportation industry for over 25 years, bringing extensive sales and marketing and business development experience to the Port.

His post-secondary education includes a Diploma in Journalism (CNA); a Masters Certificate in Project Management (Memorial University); and various Marketing and Business Communications certificates.

Ray and his wife Mary reside in Placentia.
